Frederick Douglas is one of the most well-known abolitionists in history. Enslaved, Douglass eventually purchased his own freedom and started an anti-slavery newspaper. Through his writings, Douglass sparked a revolution to end slavery. Douglass then went on to become statesman where he devoted his role to freedom and equality.
