If you’re struggling to meet your daily step target or simply looking for some easy ways to get more active, trying some of these methods may help you up your step count without really trying:
- Fidget – Forget what you were told as a child and go ahead and fidget! Pace up and down as you talk on the phone or march on the spot as you’re cooking.
- Park as far away as possible – Sure it’s convenient to park close to the building, especially when you have your arms full. Instead, boost up your step count by parking further away to ensure you walk as far as possible.
- Tour campus or your house – Regular breaks make you more productive, as long as you use the time to stretch, re-hydrate (with water), and refocus anyway. Try to get up at least once an hour to do some stretches, refill your water bottle or step outside for some fresh air. Even going to the bathroom a little further away can help boost those steps.
- Be a kid – Why not embrace being a kid again? Play hid and seek, tag, or show off those sweet jump rope skills. The kids will love you joining in – and it’s fun.
- Binge your favorite show – No, really! Binge your favorite tv show or watch a movie, just don’t sit down while watching. Instead, try marching in place or incorporate your favorite workout routine.
