Teaching Tip: By this time, most of you have had students complete at least one exam or major assignment. Consider asking your students about that experience. Using an exam or assignment wrapper is one way to trigger student’s metacognition. Reflection is important, but it is equally important for students to make a plan for how they will improve their learning progress.
Here are a few exam wrapper sites:
Carnegie Mellon Exam Wrappers (examples for STEM courses)
Stanford Teaching Commons Exam Wrappers (administering exam wrappers)
Teaching Naked Cognitive Wrappers (information about wrappers)
