Welcome spring’s warmer temps and sunshine with an easy, slower paced hike, attainable by those of all fitness levels, of about 2 miles.
Highlands Unlikely Hikers March Hike – Friday March 29th at 1:30pm – Coopers Furnace trail, Cartersville, GA
We will meet at that Cooper’s furnace trail head off of state highway 20 spur/291 at 1:30 PM.
We will hike .7 miles down to the furnace day use park and explore the furnace and surrounding area for .25 to .5 of a mile then hike .7 miles back for a total of around 2 miles. Expect the hike to take around 2 – 2 1/2 hours with stops to enjoy the wildlife, foliage, and scenery along with a short break at the day use park.
Bring plenty of water and a light snack and dress appropriately for the weather. This is an easy hike on a mostly flat, dirt trail scattered throughout with rocks and some tree roots. There is one short spot of about 5 to 7 feet on a steep rocky incline.
