Viewpoint: Fintech traces roots and future to Georgia
Georgia has a deep and rich history in financial technology. Our state has been at the forefront as the financial transaction technology industry has advanced, evolving into the dynamic and fast-paced arena of fintech. A strong base of talent and innovation has consistently come together to create what has become the richest financial ecosystem in the world — right here in Georgia. More than a decade ago, the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) saw the importance and growth potential of fintech in our market and set forth with a mission to establish a fintech professional society to convene fintech leaders that could foster and ignite the industry’s potential. That society became a center point for thought leadership, innovation and economic growth. It is clear today that the effort paid off. The foresight and influence of our tech leaders gave rise to Georgia’s ability to create a world-class industry — one that now dominates globally. Our thriving community of fintech companies, talent, university innovation, incubators and thought leaders have earned us a place on a global stage.
