In their first game back from the Holiday Break the Lady Chargers traveled to Americus, Georgia to participate in the Lady Jets Holiday Classic at South Georgia Tech and fall in overtime to Eastern Florida College 75-71. Both teams traded baskets throughout the first half with the game tied at 23 at the half. GHC held the lead throughout the 3rd period and extending their lead to to 48-41 on Anna Stewart‘s 3 pointer to close out the 3rd period.
Again both teams traded baskets throughout the 4th period but the Lady Chargers Ozahria Fisher hit a 3 with 1:00 minute to go in regulation to extend GHC’s lead to 62-59, but Eastern Florida hit a 3 pointer with 8.0 seconds left to tie the game at 62 and send the game to overtime. Eastern Florida held GHC at bay in overtime to seal the win. Eastern Florida shot 27/34, 79.4% from the free throw line compared to GHC’s 16/30, 53.3%.
The Lady Chargers were led by Kateryna Khomenko with 18 points and 9 rebounds, Anna Stewart with 16,Dorian Sharpe with 14 and Briana Davis with 10. The Lady Chargers (7-9), (4-2) in conference play return to action tomorrow in Americus, Georgia versus Cape Fear College, tip off 4:00pm.
