CVS Caremark – Site of Care/Generic (Dispense as Written) Guidelines

In 2018, the University System of Georgia (USG) will be partnering with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia and CVS Caremark to roll out the Site of Care program. In addition to this new program, the USG will be modifying our Brand/Generic (Dispense as Written) Guidelines with CVS Caremark.

Information about the Site of Care program and Brand/Generic guidelines is in the 2018 Comparison Guide, and will be available on the USG Benefits website and the Summary Plan Documents.

Site of Care Alignment Program Communications

  • USG members who have received a specialty infusion drug therapy, within the last six months, will receive notification of changes for 2018 from CVS.
  • The notification provides more detail around actions members will need to take as well as outreach calls from the CVS nursing team to assist with next steps.

Brand/Generic Guidelines (Dispense As Written) Communications

  • USG members who have filled a brand medication (multi-source drugs) in 2017, with a generic alternative available, will receive notification of the brand/generic guidelines modifications and actions they may need to take.
