The Chargers traveled to Central Georgia Tech and came away with a 80-77 win to close out conference play. The Titans of Central Georgia played the Chargers tough in the first contest earlier in the year on the Chargers home floor, so GHC knew they would have a tough battle on the road. The game was close throughout the night with the Chargers leading 45-38 at the half. GHC would extend their lead to 7 points, 67-60 with 9:11 left in the game but Central Georgia came storming back to tie the game at 71 with 4:30 left.
The Chargers held on late and found a way to win. “We were off tonight, but gutted it out for a tough road win, “ said Charger Head Coach Phil Gaffney. “Rico Bonds was special for us tonight, we wanted to go in to the conference tournament on a high note.”
Rico Bonds led the way with 20 points, Kyvon Davenport had the double – double with 14 points, and 13 rebounds, followed by Ty’lik Evans with 11.
GHC (28-1), (15-1) in conference play will close out the season on Saturday at the Corral versu ABI. Tip off 2:00pm.
