A Healthy Heart is a Happy Heart!
The Heart of the Community invites you to exercise your heart in a FUN event:
- On February 18th, the Heart of the Community will once again host a Heart Walk-Cycle-Paddle Event. This is not a Triathlon! You may participate in any one of the events just meet at the Town Green (in front of The Forum) February 18th at 9:30 am. If you wish to paddle and need a canoe, contact Wanda Whitten, 706-802-3924! We would like to challenge business and industries to form their own teams, wear your company t-shirt and involve your employees in this wellness activity. Donations to the Heart of the Community will be accepted at this event.
And to celebrate a Happy Heart:
- Looking for an exclusive “night on the town”—Don’t miss the “Affair of the Heart Banquet” and “Loving & Helping Hearts Celebrate” a post party celebration at the Brewhouse (included with Banquet tickets). This black tie event will be held at the Forum on February 18th at 6:00pm. Tickets are available on line at theheartofthecommunity.org and are tax deductible.
All Heart of the Community donations stay within the local community! In previous years, a portion of the donations to the Heart of the Community Foundation have helped to:
- Build, expand and upkeep the Heart House, a guest house for families of critically ill patients on the Redmond campus.
- AED Units/CPR for Schools, Parks & Recreation and other public facilities in Rome.
- Serenity Garden at Redmond
- Life Trail, A par fitness course, at Ridge Ferry Park
- Exercise equipment at the Thornton Recreation Center in Armuchee
- 2015 proceeds were designated for heart education and safety programs in Rome and Floyd County.
- Also, more than $45,000 in donations were made to the following community agencies: Boys and Girls Club, Summit Quest, South Rome Redevelopment Center and the Senior Adult Transportation Committee.
