The Chargers survived a hot shooting first half by Chattahoochee Tech to get the conference win, 105-85. The Golden Eagles had a great first half offensively shooting 64.3% (9/14) from the 3 point line and 55.2% from the field to take a 53-51 lead into halftime. Chattahoochee Tech took advantage of a poor performance defensively by the Chargers and extended their lead to 6 points early in the second half. GHC turned up the defensive pressure and tied the game at the 12:00 minute mark of the second half at 67. The game was tied 7 times in the second half. GHC went on a 15-3 run to close out the game and get the home win.
“It was great to see another balanced scoring night with 6 players in double digits, Kyvon Davenport was outstanding tonight with 24 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks,” said Charger Head Coach Phil Gaffney. Ty Cockfield had 19 points, Kamar McKnight with 15 points,Ty’lik Evans with 13, and Ricco Bonds and Donovan Ham with 10 points each.
GHC (26-1), (13-1) in GCAA Conference play return to action on Saturday on the road at South Georgia State, tip off 4:00pm.
