Students at Georgia Highlands College can now take advantage of a new payment plan that splits their tuition into monthly payments. This is the first time the college has offered a payment plan, according to Stephanie Loveless, GHC bursar.

A Georgia prison doctor linked to the questionable deaths of at least nine female inmates has been placed on administrative leave pending a review of his conduct, his employer, Georgia Regents University, acknowledged Thursday. The review of Dr. Yvon Nazaire follows Atlanta Journal-Constitution investigations detailing how, since he was hired in 2006, women in his care have died agonizing deaths without receiving treatment that could have saved or prolonged their lives.

Today, many colleges pride themselves on being accommodating to all students — but in fact, far from aiding the cause of Americans with disabilities, colleges have been instrumental in blocking those rights. July 26th marks the 25th anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act. As we celebrate the accomplishments of that law, let’s not forget that while colleges have embraced efforts to promote diversity and the rights of people of color, women, and LGBTQ students and faculty, they have fought a less noticed war against disability rights.
