Congratulations to Lisa Garrett on the Cartersville campus for knowing the answer to our “Who am I?” question! The answer was “Bolt” our GHC mascot!
Here is a little history about our mascot:
- Our Student Government Association selected “Chargers” as the school’s nickname/mascot in 1971.
- A Charger is a medieval war horse, but for many years the logo included a knight on the back of the horse, which led to a confusion about whether the mascot was the horse or the knight. When we made the change to GHC from Floyd College, (2005) the SGA supported a redesign that was just the horse.
- SGA ran a contest for the students to name the mascot in 2010, with “Bolt” winning the contest.
