Each quarter CVS conducts a clinical review of its covered drug list in conjunction with FDA guidelines. The purpose of the quarterly review is to ensure current covered drugs have continued to maintain their effectiveness and to identify newly eligible alternative drug options.
Effective July 1, 2015, an updated CVS caremark covered drug list will be available and posted to our pharmacy benefits webpage as a resource (http://www.usg.edu/hr/benefits/pharmacy).
This means the prescription drug(s) a member is taking will be covered at a different tier level (preferred brand (tier 2), non-preferred brand (tier 3).
For example, if the member is taking a prescription drug that will be moving from preferred brand drug to non-preferred brand drug, there may be a difference it the copay amount to fill that prescription drug. The prescription drugs copay amounts can be found in the 2015 USG Comparison guide, which is available on the USG Benefits website (http://www.usg.edu/hr/benefits).
USG members who may be impacted by the updated drug list will be notified directly by CVS Caremark and provided with additional instructions on next steps.
