GHC softball swept conference doubleheaders Friday and Saturday on the road. Friday the Chargers needed an extra inning to take care of ABAC 3-2, then battled back in the nightcap for the 6-4 victory, earning a the sweep. Saturday at Andrews, the Chargers offense exploded for an 18-7 win, then capping off the weekend with a 9-1 win. Both games were run-ruled at 5 innings.
Kayleigh Medlin had the program’s first ever grand slam, and leads the conference in both RBI’s and home runs (37 and 10). In fact, of the 8 major statistical categories, GHC has conference leaders in 5 of them- Brandi Hughes leads the conference in wins, strikeouts and ERA (12, 91, 1.80). Karlie Jarrett is second in batting average (.463) and 3rd in stolen bases (9).
