DR. SAM BALTZER NAMED ROME SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
The Rome Symphony Orchestra has named Dr. Sam Baltzer as their Artistic Director. Dr. Baltzer will be assisting the RSO in community collaboration and planning. Dr. Baltzer will assume the duties of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for the Orchestra’s 2014-2015 season.
“Dr. Baltzer has a proven ability for developing imaginative programming ideas that have significance to the orchestra, the community and the occasion, and we are delighted he is on board with the RSO”, said Barbara Beninato, President of the RSO’s Board of Directors.
Current RSO Music Director and Conductor, Dr. Richard Prior, will conduct the RSO’s March 22 and April 25 concerts. Dr. Prior, in addition to his responsibilities with Emory University Orchestra as Conductor and senior lecturer, is a composer with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Most recently, he has taken on additional duties with an Atlanta area regional orchestra.
Dr. Baltzer is a Professor of Music at Georgia Highlands College.
