The Diversity Committee presents: Dr. Bettina Love: “Mike Brown, Ferguson, Resistance & Hip Hop’s Role in Facilitating Change”

Dr. Love will discuss the Hip Hop generation’s (i.e., folks born between 1965-1984) role in bridging the gap between the civil rights generation and the millennial generation, as we reflect on the killing of Mike Brown, Ferguson’s resistance, and basic human rights.

Bettina L. Love is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Theory & Practice at the University of Georgia. Her research focuses on the ways in which urban youth negotiate Hip Hop music and culture to form social, cultural, and political identities.
