The Lady Chargers brought the ball down the floor, down by one point with 12 seconds remaining to win the GCAA championship and a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament in Salina, Kansas but the shot fell short as time expired and the Lady Jets of South Georgia Tech win 59-58.
The Lady Chargers fought back throughout the contest to keep the game close on the Lady Jets home floor. Freshman Aujana Dawkins rarely came off the floor leading GHC with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Amber Curtis heated up in the second half ending her Lady Charger career with 16 points and 4 rebounds. Shakierya McClendon also ended her Lady Charger career with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assist, 6 of McClendon’s points came on two critical three pointers to put the Chargers in a position to win on the last possession .China Henderson had 9 points and 3 rebounds.
McClendon and Curtis members of the inaugural Charger team last year end their career with a 50-13 record, and two straight trips to the GCAA Conference play-offs.
The Lady Chargers the GCAA Conference runner – up ended the year with a stellar 26-7 record.
