New Scholarship Honors Paul and Sue Cornette’s Legacy of Giving Back to Bartow County

The Georgia Highlands College Foundation is honored to announce the creation of the Paul and Sue Cornette Scholarship, established through the generosity of Helping Hands for Bartow Kids.

This scholarship celebrates the lasting legacy of Paul and Sue Cornette—two lifelong Bartow County residents known for their kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping others. Their family’s deep roots in the community and their desire to give back inspired the creation of this scholarship, which will help local students achieve their dreams of a college education.

The Paul and Sue Cornette Scholarship will be awarded to students who have attended Bartow County or Cartersville City Schools for at least four years and plan to continue their education at Georgia Highlands College. Recipients must demonstrate financial need, but the scholarship is open to students pursuing any area of study.

“This scholarship beautifully reflects the Cornettes’ hearts for this community,” said Kelly Nagel, Representative of the Foundation at Georgia Highlands College. “It’s a way for their legacy of love and generosity to continue making a difference in the lives of Bartow County students for years to come.”

Helping Hands for Bartow Kids provided the initial $1,000 gift to establish the scholarship, with plans to grow the fund into an endowment that will support students in perpetuity. Recipients will be selected by Helping Hands for Bartow Kids, and the funds will be administered by the Georgia Highlands College Foundation.

“Paul and Sue always believed in helping others find their way,” said Tara Cornette, founder of Helping Hands for Bartow Kids. “This scholarship ensures their legacy of compassion continues right here in Bartow County, helping local students take the next step toward their dreams.”

The Georgia Highlands College Foundation invites community members, friends, and local businesses to contribute to the Paul and Sue Cornette Scholarship to help expand its impact and carry forward the Cornettes’ legacy of caring for others.
