GHC celebrates class of 2025

Rome News-Tribune

Georgia Highland College graduates walked out of the gym and into the sunshine in a sea of black, interspersed with pops of color from decorated caps and academic cords, with their diplomas in hand, prepared for the next chapter of their lives. … Hundreds of GHC graduates walked across the stage Thursday, May 15, to receive their diploma in ceremonies held at the Floyd campus.

The class of 2025 had three commencement ceremonies and a pinning ceremony for the nursing students. The graduation ceremony was divided into three events, which were held throughout the day, to ensure all of the graduates had their time to shine.

In each ceremony, GHC president Mike Hobbs commended the students on the hard work they have put in over the years, many overcoming difficult circumstances in order to receive their degree.

Since becoming president three years ago, Hobbs has described his students as people with grit, or strength and endurance, backing his claim with enrollment data.

The data shows that 81% of GHC students work a job while attending college, with over 50% working full time, Hobbs said.

“I know that makes it a little tougher on you, but I think that gives you the grit that you will need to be successful,” Hobbs said. “You’ve accomplished something truly unique and meaningful today.”
