Shanika Wright-Turner honored with Regents’ Felton Jenkins Jr. Hall of Fame Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching and Leadership

Georgia Highlands College (GHC) proudly announces that Shanika Wright-Turner, Associate Professor of Business Administration, has been recognized with the prestigious Regents’ Felton Jenkins Jr. Hall of Fame Faculty Award, presented by the University System of Georgia. This honor celebrates her transformative impact as an educator, mentor, and leader dedicated to student success.

Wright-Turner is the visionary behind GHC’s Entrepreneurship pathway, a program designed to equip students with real-world business skills. Through mentorship programs and pitch competitions, she empowers students to develop and launch their own ventures, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.

Wright-Turner expressed immense gratitude upon receiving the 2025 Felton Jenkins, Jr. Hall of Fame Faculty Award, reflecting on the passion, challenges, and dedication behind her teaching. She described the honor as a humbling and emotional reminder that her work makes a meaningful impact.

“This award represents every single person who has been part of my journey—the ones who answered when I called and came running, the mentors who shared wisdom that shaped my career, the friends and family who supported me through every challenge,” Wright-Turner said. “It represents the late nights, the sacrifices, and the moments when I pushed through even when I was exhausted.”

She continued, “This isn’t just about me — it’s about the village that has poured into me, lifted me up, and helped me become the educator I am today. I carry all of them with me in this moment, and I’m beyond grateful.”

Beyond her innovative teaching methods, Wright-Turner’s leadership extends across the college. She plays a pivotal role in initiatives like the GHC Charge into Leadership Conference, inspiring students to cultivate leadership skills and professional growth. Additionally, her commitment to faculty development has strengthened GHC’s culture of teaching excellence.

“Shanika’s passion for education and dedication to student success make her truly deserving of this recognition,” Dean of the School of Business and Professional Studies Joy Hambrick said. “Her work not only enhances the learning experience at GHC but also prepares students for lifelong achievement.”
