5th Annual Transitions Fair a Success

Disability Access at GHC Cartersville hosted the 5th Annual Transitions Fair for Bartow County & Cartersville high schools last week. This event was designed to educate parents and high school students with disabilities about opportunities after high school. Options included transitioning into the community and/or postsecondary education after graduation.

Vendors from over 20 agencies were available to discuss how services can be provided beyond public education. Agency participants included Kennesaw State University, Dalton State College, Chattahoochee Technical College, Georgia Northwestern Technical College, Parent to Parent, Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, Woodright Industries, Northwest Georgia Center for Independent Living, Highland Rivers, and many more. We had approximately 200 students from the following high schools attended the event: Adairsville High School, Cartersville High School, Cass High School, and Woodland High School.

The Transitions Fair is an annual event coordinated in partnership between Bartow County Schools, Cartersville City Schools and Georgia Highlands College.
