Cobb Chamber ‘Teacher of the Year’ uses real-world applications to engage students at GHC

Accounting takes on a new life in Annette Maddox’s classes at Georgia Highlands College (GHC). Students take a hard look at real company practices when working through their course material, applying their newly learned skills to real-world applications.

“Students are more likely to be engaged in the material when I can show how it relates to a real company,” Maddox said.

The Professor of Accounting was recently recognized as a “Teacher of the Year” during the Cobb Chamber of Commerce’s Give Our Schools A Hand (GOSH) program celebration breakfast.
