June is Pride Month

 

The first Pride march in New York City was held on June 28, 1970 to commemorate a series of clashes between police and LGBTQ+ protestors. This six-day skirmish, known as the Stonewall Uprising of 1969, reshaped LGBTQ+ activism in the U.S.
