Community Outreach during our 7/22 GHC New Year Celebration

Let’s celebrate the New Academic Year at GHC by giving to others in our community!

As part of our New Year kick-off celebration on July 22, we will be inviting some local children’s groups (Pre-K to 5th grade) to our Rome and Cartersville campuses to participate in a “Meet the Author” event for the book, The Nest That Wren Built, to be held between 8am and 10:30am.  In addition to a reading by the local author, Randi Sonenshine, we will provide fun activities for the kids while they are on our campuses.

There are many ways you could help with this event and do your part to help a young child discover the power of reading while planting the seeds of their potential future at GHC.

  • Donate money to purchase books to give to these future Chargers and/or the children’s organizations that will be coming to our campuses. The deadline for donations is 7/15/2021 and there are three donation mechanisms:
  1. Stop by the business office on any one of our campuses and give whatever you can via cash, check, or debit/credit card. Just let them know that your donation should be applied to the literacy project and reference project # 730LIT.
  2. Mail a check payable to GHC to

Georgia Highlands College

Business Office

Attn:  Jacob Broome

3175 Cedartown Highway
Rome, GA 30161

Please reference Project # 730LIT on your check.

3.  Donate online by “enrolling” in the GHC continuing ed course – The Nest That Wren Built. The enrollment fee of $15 will be used to purchase books.  Donations through this mechanism will need to be done in $15 increments and each $15 donation will require a new enrollment.  Here is the link for the course.

  • Stop by the book table on the campus where you will be participating in the Welcome Back to Campus Celebration event on 7/22 (11am to 2pm) and write an inspirational message for our future Chargers that will be placed in the books we purchase before we give them away.

  • Give us ideas on the types of activities that you think the kids will enjoy. For this, just email   mlargin@highlands.edu

Looking forward to seeing you all on 7/22 and kicking off a great New Year at GHC!
