Ransomware: not just for computers

Smartphones have become so powerful that there are only minor technical differences between the computer in your pocket and the one on your desk. Phones (Android devices, in particular) are vulnerable to the same types of malicious software that can infect Windows computers. Kaspersky Labs recently released a study that notes a dramatic rise in Android ransomware between March 2015 and March 2016. This trend is very likely to continue. Protect your phone by always keeping it up to date with the latest version of Android software and only download apps from the Google Play store. Always be suspicious of “too good to be true” apps that promise free music, movies, or phone media like wallpapers and emojis.
