All-USA/Coca-Cola Community College Scholarships

Dear Faculty and Staff,

GHC is pleased to announce that the All-USA Community College Academic Team and the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Programs will continue in 2016. The collaboration of USA TODAY, Follett Higher Education Group, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, The Coca-Cola Foundation, AACC and Phi Theta Kappa will lead to students being featured in an April 2016 issue of USA TODAY and the awarding of nearly $400,000 in scholarships to outstanding community college students. It would be a bonus for GHC to receive national press recognition should one of our nominees be identified as a scholar.

Georgia Highlands College qualifies to nominate up to two students per campus (for a total of 10) to participate in this national competition.

In addition to recognition by USA TODAY, Follett and Coca-Cola, GHC’s nominees will be recognized as members of the 2016 All-Georgia Academic Team. All-State Team programs offer students $41 million in academic scholarships, stipends, newspaper coverage, medallions and certificates. By nominating students to the All-USA Community College Academic Team national program, we are providing scholarship opportunities to All-Georgia Team members to which they would otherwise not have access. We were honored to name six GHC students – more than any other USG community college! – to the 2015 All-Georgia Academic Team. Our goal is to have ten students named to the 2016 Team.

Please ask our sophomore students to check their GHC email account for information forwarded to them on September 23rd. We ask you to provide special encouragement to students with outstanding academic rigor and grade point averages; participation in honors programs and student activities, awards, honors, and recognition for academic achievement; and service to the college and community. The judges for these scholarships look for innovative, creative, original and lasting achievements or undertakings of the students.

GHC’s posted deadline for accepting applications for this scholarship opportunity is
Friday, November 20, 2015.
