After 15-year buildout, UGA needs still more
By LEE SHEARER
As much as the University of Georgia has expanded in the past 15 years, the institution needs still more, says UGA Campus Architect Danny Sniff. And not just more space is needed, but expensive improvements to aging mid-century buildings like the high-rise dormitories on Baxter Street and the science complex on the UGA South Campus.

Veterans face unique challenges in job market
By WAYNE CRENSHAW and CHRISTINA M. WRIGHT — Telegraph staff
WARNER ROBINS — When Bernard Robinson left the Army in 2006, he didn’t worry much about finding a job. … Veterans often face unique challenges finding work when they leave the military, and the issue is the driving force behind a proposal for a veterans job training facility.…Gov. Nathan Deal put $10 million for such a center in his budget, which passed the House on Tuesday. It now goes to the Senate, which is to expected to vote within the next week. If passed, the facility is expected to collaborate with higher learning institutions to help transition veterans to the private work force. Warner Robins City Council has offered a piece of land across from Robins Air Force Base, near Russell Parkway, for the center. But the location is not a done deal.

The time is right to explore the best long term options for the relocation of Albany Early College from the campus of Albany State University. Why now? Because the Dougherty County School Board is considering consolidating and closing schools in communities that desperately need the energy and vitality of a stable neighborhood institution. The relocation of a school with a bustling student enrollment to a facility where growth is stagnant is more prudent.
